Seme di Canapa: Raccolta nel Monferrato e il Ritorno della Varietà Piemontese CS
La stagione di raccolta del seme di canapa destinato alla semina delle
varietà storiche italiane si è appena conclusa sulle colline del
Monferrato.
Un Raccolto Resiliente
Il bilancio della stagione è stato condizionato da un clima particolarmente avverso. I mesi di
giugno e luglio sono stati caratterizzati da un caldo “rovente” e una grave
siccità che hanno purtroppo causato la perdita di numerosi ettari di coltivazioni. Soltanto i
temporali della seconda metà di agosto hanno fornito l’acqua necessaria, rivitalizzando le piante e permettendo di concludere la stagione con un
discreto raccolto. Questo dimostra ancora una volta la resilienza della canapa.
Il Ritorno della “CS”
La notizia più significativa di quest’anno è la
ripresa della coltivazione della varietà piemontese CS. Questa varietà, particolarmente apprezzata non solo in Italia ma anche sui mercati internazionali,
manca dal mercato da quattro anni.
Il suo rientro in campo a fianco di Carmagnola, Fibranova ed Eletta Campana rappresenta un segnale forte per la valorizzazione delle genetiche italiane.
Macchinari: La Sfida dell’Autosufficienza
Come già accaduto nelle passate stagioni, la raccolta è stata condotta con una mietitrebbia specializzata di provenienza estera. Questo macchinario è l’unico attualmente in grado di gestire senza problemi la raccolta del seme delle varietà giganti italiane, che presentano caratteristiche particolari.
L’obiettivo che Assocanapa, lavorando da anni in sinergia con l’’azienda sementiera piemontese (unica in Italia specializzata nella coltivazione e selezione delle varietà italiane), si propone per il prossimo futuro è quello di superare questa dipendenza.
Si sta lavorando insieme per trovare le risorse economiche e una soluzione che consenta, tramite l’applicazione delle opportune modifiche tecniche, di utilizzare una mietitrebbia locale già a partire dal prossimo anno. Raggiungere questo traguardo è fondamentale per l’autosufficienza della filiera e per ridurre i costi e la complessità logistica della raccolta.

The harvest season for hemp seeds intended for the sowing of historic Italian varieties has just ended in the hills of Monferrato.
A Resilient Harvest
The season’s results were affected by particularly adverse weather conditions. June and July were characterized by scorching heat and severe drought, which unfortunately caused the loss of many hectares of crops. Only the storms in the second half of August provided the necessary water, revitalizing the plants and allowing the season to end with a decent harvest. This demonstrates once again the resilience of hemp.
The return of the CS variety
The most significant news this year is the resumption of cultivation of the Piedmontese CS variety. This variety, which is particularly appreciated not only in Italy but also on international markets, has been absent from the market for four years. Its return to the field alongside Carmagnola, Fibranova, and Eletta Campana is a strong signal for the promotion of Italian genetics.
Machinery: The Challenge of Self-Sufficiency
As in previous seasons, harvesting was carried out using a specialized combine harvester from abroad. This machine is currently the only one capable of handling the harvesting of Italian giant varieties, which have particular characteristics, without any problems.
Assocanapa, which has been working for years in synergy with the Piedmontese seed company (the only one in Italy specializing in the cultivation and selection of Italian hemp varieties), aims to overcome this dependence in the near future. We are working together to find the financial resources and a solution that will allow us to use a local combine harvester as early as next year, through the application of appropriate technical modifications. Achieving this goal is essential for the self-sufficiency of the supply chain and for reducing the costs and logistical complexity of harvesting.
